Roger moved to Torksey in 2001, after over 20 years as Head of Music at a Nottinghamshire Comprehensive School, and Organist and Choirmaster of the Deanery Church of All Hallows Gedling. Within two years he had joined Torksey Parish Council, serving as Councillor, then Chairman for a short time, before becoming Parish Clerk and Responsible Finance Officer to both Torksey Parish Council and Newton on Trent Parish Council. His musical activities continued at both Torksey Parish Church and Saxilby Parish Church.
With over twenty years of experience at Parish Council level and now two years as a District Councillor, he has a good understanding of local issues and first-hand experience of how local government works. Experience which he puts to good use in the service of the electors of Brampton, Fenton, Gate Burton, Kettlethorpe, Laughterton, Marton, Torksey Lock, Torksey, and Newton on Trent.
Local issues can all too easily be forgotten in the larger scheme of things, Too often villages are left in “managed decline” but, no matter what your party politics are, Roger works to ensure that local issues and all residents are properly represented at District Council level.
