Julie has lived in West Barkwith since 2006 when she and her husband moved from Herefordshire to purchase Star Garage – a small family run business that is well supported by the local community. Julie has been an Accountant for over 35 years and has also enjoyed her involvement with charitable organisations for many years.
This began when her children were pre-school and she worked as a volunteer for Home-Start – a support group for mums and children that need a helping hand and friendship.
Living at the foot of the Malvern Hills was an irresistible call to enjoy the outdoors and walking. This led to training as a Health Walk Leader, a Nordic Walking Instructor and regular visits to the local swimming pool. Julie is a firm believer in exercise as a preventative measure to illness, age related issues and mental health wellbeing.
People would say that walk without a dog is wasted - so for many years she was a volunteer dog walker for the local RSPCA kennels. Her love of animals has led to her volunteer work as a fosterer for Cats Protection, an RSPCA home visitor and she is currently running her own Cat and Kitten Rescue- Star Cat Rescue.
Julie has a keen interest in Green Issues, renewable energy and any ideas or suggestions that will ensure our children have a healthy, happy future.
