On Friday, 20 February 2026, WLDC Cllr. John Barrett, Vice Chairman of West Lindsey District Council, was invited to the Double Tree by Hilton Lincoln for the Lincolnshire Boys & Girls Club dinner and awards evening, as were other Councillors.

Cllr Barrett met up with numerous youth workers and young people from as young as 11 years. A lot of the young people were working towards the Duke of Edinburgh's Bronze or Silver Medals. Others enjoyed youth clubs, and there were two wonderful swimmers from the Louth area. There were people from different areas in Lincolnshie but John was extremely pleased to be able to award certificates to two young ladies from Gainsbough.

John said, " It was wonderful to see how the young people in Lincolnshire often excel in sports and other activities."
