Lincolnshire Farming Conference – February 2026
At Lincolnshire Showground, just off the A15 Welton Road, Lincoln.
Lincolnshire Showground is a fantastic and vibrant venue for a variety of events, including weddings, food and antique fairs, corporate days, and exciting outdoor activities.
Cllr. John Barrett, Vice Chairman of the West Lindsey District Council, recently purchased a year's membership at the Showground and attended the Lincolnshire Farming Conference, all held within the impressive Epic Centre. The conference featured talks from prominent figures in the farming community, as well as numerous exhibitors from across the region, providing valuable insights into today’s farming businesses.
John had not spoken with Victoria Atkins, M.P. for Louth & Horncastle and Shadow Secretary of State for Environment, Food, and Rural Affairs, since the time of David Cameron's Prime Ministership. He remarked, "It was wonderful to catch up with Victoria again and have a little chat. She is a lovely lady who works tirelessly for us." Victoria also delivered a talk and responded to questions from the audience.
During the event, Cllr. Barrett met Charlotte Powell, who was appointed CEO of the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society (LAS) and Lincolnshire Showground in June 2023. Charlotte shared some innovative events she is planning, building on the record-breaking attendance of recent events.
John also had a meaningful conversation with Amanda Thompson, who lives in Nettleham and volunteers with the Lincolnshire Rural Support Network (LRSN), along with Sarah Poucher, the Fundraising and Communications Manager for LRSN. They provide valuable support to families, especially those involved in agriculture and horticulture.
Additionally, John spoke with Heather Smith, Stakeholder Relations Manager at Lincoln University, where she is involved in agri-food technology and manufacturing. They are doing remarkable work for the present and future right in our community.
Finally, Cllr. Barrett discussed the work Sophie Crust does, working with the Lincolnshire Agricultural Society (LAS) charity. This organisation helps connect like-minded young people from farming families, supporting them in expanding their knowledge and advancing in their chosen career paths.
