Iconic Red Telephone Box Transformed at Torksey

An iconic red telephone box has been transformed into an information point.Volunteers from Torksey Action Group have renovated the inside of a village phone box to use as an information centre and communication point.

Edward Leigh: Stagecoach’s Decision to Cut No. 3 Service is Regrettable

Edward Leigh MP is calling on Stagecoach Lincolnshire to explain to local people the company’s decision to cut services along the number 3 route from Lincoln to Grimsby. The MP, who represents the Gainsborough constituency including Market Rasen and Caistor, was responding to the significant change to the Number 3 service from Monday 2 April 2012. This will include the loss of an hourly connecting bus service between the south east and north east of the Gainsborough Constituency during the daytime.

A volunteer writers group has been given a helping hand by Conservative-led West Lindsey District Council. Newsline, a monthly village newsletter for Blyborough, Grayingham and Willoughton, has received a £400 grant from the Councillor Initiative Fund.

£8m for Lincolnshire Hospitals

The Health Secretary, Andrew Lansley MP, recently announced a major investment in improving the health care of people in Lincolnshire. The Department of Health is to provide a further £8 million of funding to United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust / Lincolnshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) across the years 2011/12 and 2012/13.

Conservative-Led Council Tax Freeze Supported By All Parties

Conservatives from the Gainsborough Constituency, which covers all of the West Lindsey district, have warmly welcomed news from the Conservative-led district authority that Council Tax will be frozen for the second year running.At the March meeting of the Council, on Monday, 5th March 2012, Leader, Cllr. Burt Keimach, introduced the Conservative Group's Budget which received unanimous approval from all parties.

In a speech introducing the authority's 2012 budget, by the Conservative Leader of West Lindsey District Council, Cllr. Burt Keimach, Council Tax is Frozen for a second year. The Leader confirms there have been no redundancies and that there are no plans to make any one redundant in the forseeable future. The authority will be investing in building new homes in Gainsborough and delivering for rural communities.

Edward Leigh Celebrates Nursery Re-Opening

Edward Leigh, Member of Parliament for Gainsborough, has attended the opening of the Little Lambs Nursery, in Corringham Road, Gainsborough.The nursery was forced to close following a fire which gutted the building at the start of December last year, in what is understood to have been an arson attempt. The blaze damaged light fittings and fixtures as it spread through the toddler room to the corridors, kitchen and children’s toilets. Thousands of pounds of repairs have taken place and now the nursery is back in business.
